Soul Food
If you pull too hard it will snap
And knock you flat right on your ass
All alone you’ll wonder why
A very small part of you dies
If it’s too loose it will sag
Across the stony ground will snag
And everything is torn away
There’s never any time for play.
But if you hold taut and tight
It’s really quite a novel sight
There’s a tension
That’s delicious
And nutritious
It feeds
The human soul.
One by one the threads connect.
Time and places interject.
A tapestry, a story forms.
And deep inside your heart, it warms
Slowly choices interplay.
Not quite an ordinary day.
There’s electric in the air.
You feel it tingle in your hair.
But if you hold taut and tight
It’s really quite a novel sight
There’s a tension
That’s delicious
And nutritious
It feeds
The human soul.
